Halloween weekend!

We had a wonderful Halloween weekend. On Saturday we had 30 family members over for lunch. It was great to see everyone and show them the house! We also celebrated both our Dad's birthday's and David's 30th. It was quite the challenge to get the house in working order before everyone came...but we did and we're glad it's finished.

Sunday...we finally used our Groupon for the Crime and Punishment Museum in DC. It was also the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, so it was a little tricky getting into the city with the road closures. But we made it and even got to see some of the marathon runners. The museum was great! Went through the history of crime and punishment from Medieval, colonial, pirates, wild west, etc. It was a good way to spend Halloween...kind of spooky :)

The "colonial" era at the Crime and Punishment Museum.

We then buckled down for the trick or treaters to arrive. We didn't have as many as we thought, but there were still a lot. It was fun looking at all of the costumes. Even Molly dressed up :)

Our little hot dog :) She didn't move an inch with it on!

Furniture builders!

We spent the past weekend trying to finish up the house as best as we could. We've been gone most weekends so we buckled down this weekend and got to work. This is what awaited us.....
It wasn't so bad...we got furniture for our bedroom so now the guest room has a mattress, a shelf for the kitchen, bookshelf for the den and baby room furniture. We're waiting to assemble that!

Here are some of my belly pictures...hard to believe we're already half way there!

Fall weekends

We had a great past two weekends traveling with friends. Two weekends ago, we went to Lake Anna for the long Columbus Day weekend with two other couples from undergrad at UVA and six kids in age from 5 months to 7 years. It was a great learning experience for David and I....I think we're ready :)  We had a great weekend of hiking, smores, boating and relaxing.

This past weekend we traveled up to Pennsylvania with some Darden friends for a weekend of fly fishing. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate...30 mph gusts and about 40 degrees. It was freezing and raining too. We didn't get to go out on the boats to fish, but we did learn how to cast, tie knots, different lures, etc. It was very interesting. We also got to spend some time with good friends.
PA Countryside - The leaves were already changing

On the drive back we stopped in Hershey, PA and went to the Hershey factory. We got to make our own candy bars!

We also celebrated David's 30th Birthday!! He has a fun year ahead!

The First One....

So, I finally did it....started my own blog. I've read blogs for over a couple of years now (some of my favorites...katheats.com and carrotsncake.com) and David kept saying I should start my own. So now, here it is. This blog isn't going to be really focused on the "healthy living" aspect like the others I read but I wanted something to chronicle our lives as we get ready for our new baby!!
First ultrasound...our little grain of rice!

We've had quite a few changes in the past couple of months. First...we found out we were pregnant in June and our little girl will be here the end of February. We can not wait to welcome our new daughter. Molly is in for a surprise since she is our "only child" right now! Once we found out a baby was on the way...we decided it was time to move out of our one bedroom apartment in Dupont Circle and find someplace with a little more space. We found a house we loved in Springfield, VA and moved in the last week of August. Going from a one bedroom to a four bedroom has been quite the change as we slowly fill it up. We love it and Molly loves her own fenced yard to chase all of the squirrels!
